This military map case is a French Army regulation model, in service in the late 1950s and early 1960s, particularly in Indochina and during the Algerian War. It was carried by officers, non-commissioned officers, and section leaders to store staff maps, mission documents, and administrative effects.

Made of thick khaki/green canvas and reinforced with leather elements, this map case offers excellent resistance to field conditions: friction, rain, dust, and heat. The canvas and leather combination typical of this period gives it an appearance very characteristic of French North African equipment.

Inside, it features a large main pocket for documents, a wide transparent plastic slot for displaying a map, and dedicated compartments for a compass, pencils, a small flashlight, or other navigation accessories.
