Headband for GUENEAU-GENO riot helmet — Type 312-313
An authentic piece of equipment from French Army surplus, this headband is designed for 1960s-70s GUENEAU-GENO riot helmets, types 312 and 313. As a replacement or collector's item, it allows for the restoration or completion of a vintage helmet to its original condition.
Historical context
The GUENEAU-GENO helmet was part of the modernization of protective equipment for French law enforcement and the military in the 1960s. Adopted during a period of social tension and the reorganization of riot control units, this anti-shock helmet was issued to CRS units and certain specialized military units.
Types 312 and 313 represent two variants of the same generation, differentiated by slight changes in interior design. The headband—a central element of the suspension system—secures the helmet to the head and absorbs some of the impact. It is often the first part to wear out or go missing on collector pieces.
